Benchmark Senior Living acquired The Commons while the property was in bankruptcy. The previous owner was unable to make the community economically viable because it lacked a continuum of care. With the new Healthcare Center, The Commons becomes more attractive to people looking for independent living units and those requiring more care.

The Healthcare Center houses three wings: assisted living, skilled nursing and Alzheimer's. There are 40 AL units, 26 skilled nursing units and 24 memory care units. Amenities include a wood shop, beauty salon, physical therapy room, country kitchen and bistro.
